Description

The Nissan Skyline GT-R is a legendary series of sports cars based on the Nissan Skyline range, produced from 1968 to 2002. The fifth and final generation, designed by Kozo Watanabe and known as the GF-BNR34 or simply R34, debuted in 1999, succeeding the E-BCNR33 generation. The R34 was notable for its shorter length and reduced front overhang compared to its predecessors. It retained the renowned 2.6L RB26DETT twin-turbocharged inline-6 engine, now paired with a 6-speed Getrag manual transmission. Several special editions were released, including the V·Spec, V·Spec II, V·Spec II Nür, M·Spec, and the high-performance R- and Z-Tune variants. Production concluded in 2002 with a total of 11,578 units built. The R34 has since become a cult classic, beloved for its appearances in films, video games, and popular media, and is celebrated among enthusiasts of Japanese performance cars. The Hot Wheels casting is based on a Nissan Skyline GT-R R-Tune model. It was retooled in 2014 with an integrated wing. Since 2019, it has been labeled as the Nissan Skyline GT-R (BNR34).
